Down Syndrome Ireland has teamed up with The Phoenix Park to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day with a two-day event on March 20th and 21st.

A number of events were organised including the Down Syndrome Ireland’s inaugural Purple Run, which took place on Sunday 20th and saw well over 1,000 people take part for the 1km and 5km race.

There was also a Fun Filled Carnival for all the family on Monday March 21st. The theme of the two days is celebration, with a chance for member families and the wider public to join together for fun and celebrations. The Carnival was free and welcomed members and supporters to help mark this celebratory occasion.

Back here in Tallaght we were visited by Amy Leggett and her Mam Angela Lee today to help us raise awareness for the cause. Amy is 15 years old this June and attends John of Gods in Islandbridge but lives locally. She and her Mam were celebrating the day by going to the cinema in The Square to see Zootropolis.
