The Dublin Taxi Drivers Special Children’s Outing took place on September 12th of this month and was yet again another fantastic and successful day for ann involved.
The special event for children with special needs has been running since 1960 and sees children collected by the drivers and brought to Parnell Square where they were entertained by The Garda Band and a DJ.
This years grand marshall was yet again the popular Paddy Drac who celebrated his 49th year with the organisation. The children were also greeted by the Lord Mayor of Dublin who saw the convoy off led by the band down O’ Connell St and the group were then escorted by the gardai to their mega party at Leopordstown Racecourse.
The day was packed full of fun events and the children were finally treated to food compliments of TGI Fridays. As the day finally came to a finish the children are returned back home to their houses, schools and hospitals.
We at InTallaght caught up with Paul Matthews PRO of the Dublin Taxi Driver’s Special Children’s Outing who told us how great the day was;
“It’s hard to put into words how amazing this year was. 2017 was our best day out to date. The sun shone on us and the atmosphere was electric. With the help of our many sponsors this year was one to remember. We would like to thank Dublins taxi drivers for giving their time on the day. We to make 2018 bigger and better day out and look forward to seeing everyone next year. Don’t forget to check out our facebook page for pictures and updates”
