Tallaght Athletic Club located on the Greenhill’s Road is hosting their annual GOAL Mile Run on Christmas Day. This is great for runners or walkers of any age, the running track has a great atmosphere every year.

The GOAL Mile’s mission statement : “To work towards ensuring that the poorest and most vulnerable in our world and those affected by humanitarian crises have access to the fundamental rights of life, including but not limited to adequate shelter, food, water and sanitation, healthcare and education”

There is no need to sign up, all you have to do is show up on the day between 9:30am and 12 noon, make a donation to the GOAL Foundation and if you want you can wear your festive jumper and a santa hat (Don’t forget to wear sportswear or running wear!) At the end of your run/walk you will receive a certificate with the time you came in and that you have completed the GOAL mile.

It’s for anyone of any age. I attend this event every year with my family after opening our presents and I enjoy every minute of it, everyone is wishing Christmas cheer and families even take part pushing their buggies! There is tea & coffee back in the clubhouse to help warm everyone up! I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys running. If you think about it, other people will still be in bed at that time and you just ran/walked a mile and donated to charity on Christmas day, you would truly be a real winner!
