In just over a month, Star Wars fans will be able to get their hands on the DVD – including 70-minute behind-the-scenes documentary Secrets of the Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey.

The doc, out April 18, premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas – but a sneak preview has been released online through the Star Wars YouTube channel and Good Morning America.

Here are our favourite moments that have us excited to find out more…

1. Hearing John Boyega audition for the role of Finn

The actor is shown delivering the line he would go on to say to Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) in the movie: “I need a pilot”.

2. Gwendoline Christie getting into her Captain Phasma costume

The actress said: “Star Wars seemed like a kind of universe that might accept me.”

While director JJ Abrams explained: “The name came because looking at the chrome design of Phasma’s uniform, it reminded me of the movie Phantasm.”

3. Daisy Ridley shooting her scenes in the desert – even though she was nervous

The actress, who plays Rey, admitted: “I just remember thinking, we are about to shoot this thing and I am not ready.”

4. Han Solo facing his destiny, with insight from Harrison Ford

Speaking about the climactic scene which sees (spoiler alert!) Han Solo killed by his son Kylo Ren, Harrison said the scene was important.

“His destiny is resolved in a powerful and effective way… I wanted Han Solo to be able to lend some significant and emotional weight to the story,” he said.

Adam Driver, who plays Kylo Ren, admitted: “It was the scene I think that terrified me the most.”

5. The table reading of Star Wars, bringing all the actors together for the first time

The first gathering of the original cast and new cast brought everyone together to see – crucially – how they all worked together.

Luckily, it would be fair to say that it worked out well.

“Just as a fan of Star Wars, to see them all together was an incredible thrill,” JJ said.
