Singing sensation Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha after a judge in New York refused to end the pop stars contract with Sony.

Last week Kesha was seen devastated as she left the courtroom, having broken down when the judge ruled her six album contract will remain in place. Fans along with other well known celebrities have been tweeting the star in support using the hashtag #FreeKesha.

Lily Allen and Lady Gaga have have all tweeted in support.

In October 2014, she sued her producer Luke Gottwald – better known as Dr Luke, claiming he had drugged, sexually abused and psychologically tormented her. He denies the claims.

A spokesperson for Swift told Billboard that musician Taylor Swift made the donation “to help with any of [Kesha’s] financial needs during this trying time”.

Kesha’s mother also confirmed the news on Twitter.
