Tallaght to host stage adaption of powerful war story

Shane O'Regan as Tommo in Private Peaceful
The stage adaptation of internationally famed writer Michael Morpurgo’s book Private Peaceful takes place this month in Tallaght.
The Civic Theatre will host the play on four nights starting on May 22 and included in the cast is young Irish actor Shane O’Regan.
Michael Morpurgo is acclaimed for his book, film and play War Horse which took the world by storm over past decade and this, his other highly regarded novel which is aimed at teenagers, is also a very well known story which has won numerous awards.
Morpurgo’s story starts in the tiny Devon village of Iddesleigh, not unlike many rural communities woven into the rural fabric of Ireland and some of  towns of which the shows will tour to here.
Thomas ‘€œTommo’€ Peaceful and his elder brother Charlie do everything together.
They used to go to school together, face their problems together, sleep and eat together; they even loved the same girl… but now they have to face the many facets of war together.
Can a bond and loyalty between brothers overcome the brutality of the front lines and bring them safely home?
When the lines of heroism and cowardice collide, what can one man or even a brother do to fight the injustices of it all?
