Tallaght site goes on the market for guide price of €4 million

The site of the Cuckoos Nest pub is being advertised for sale this week by auctioneers DNG with permission for 39 three bed houses, six two bed apartments and commercial space.

The 4.52 acre site on the Greenhills Road has a guide price of €4 million and also included is the alteration and renovation of the pub into a 1,016sq m (10,936sq ft) facility and the demolition of the Tallaght Theatre building for a 371sq m (3,993sq ft) replacement.

The famous Kilnamanagh pub closed in 2015 due to spiralling debts, and last October the property suffered extensive damage in a fire.

In January planning permission was granted for the redevelopment of the pub and the building of the new houses on the site.

The Cuckoo’s Nest was bought in 1962 by Phyllis and Peadar Lynch, and prior to that it was owned by a goldsmith, pawnbroker, solicitor and protestant minister with an illustrious history dating back 250 years.

Tallaght Theatre has been located at the site since 1997 and their new premises will be closer to the road.
