Kingswood native Janet Grogan made a triumphant return to the X Factor stage last weekend to banish the ghost of her last appearance on the hit TV show.
Back in 2014 Janet was doing really well and seemed a dead cert to make it through to the next round until she was cruelly swapped out by Simon Cowell at the six chairs stage.
The decision was a major shock as everyone felt Janet had done more than enough to advance to the judges houses and Simon Cowell later admitted he regretted cutting her from his team.
The talented 28 year old, who works as a lifeguard in Tallaght Leisure Centre, admitted she was nervous returning to the show after her previous experience.
But there was no need for any anxiety as she powered through the Dublin auditions to advance to the next round with a powerful rendition of Zayn Malik’s Pillow Talk.
Speaking after her performance Janet said:
“I was s**ting myself for want of a better word.
“It was like seeing an ex boyfriend, like going to see someone who broke your heart for the first time.
“You want to sound good, look good, do all the things you can to impress them.”
“Simon put me at ease straight away and then I was able to sing really well.
“I was over the moon when I got four Yes votes – Sharon and Nicole are new to me so impressing them and getting their approval was something I really wanted to do.
“I knew Simon liked me before and so did Louis so I really wanted to get the two ladies on board too.
“So now I am heading for Bootcamp and we will see what happens.”
We look forward to following Janet’s progress through this years competition and fingers crossed she can go all the way and claim victory.
