Tallaght Person of the Year launched for 2015!

Last night, Tallaght Community Council launched the 32nd Tallaght Person of the Year Awards at Madison’s Bar, Tuansgate, Tallaght.

The awards aim to recognise and appreciate community stars in the civil parish of Tallaght and have seven categories; arts and culture, business, community, environment, heart of gold, youth and sport.

Last year’s outgoing Tallaght Person of the Year, Mary McLoughlin was there to help launch the awards and said that while she was sad to have her year end, she was happy to hand over the accolade to whoever wins the award next.

She said, “It was a complete surprise to win last year and I hadn’t a speech ready or anything, but sometimes the best speeches are those that come from the heart.” Mary won the award for her work with HOPE suicide prevention, and used her own personal experiences to help others who have been impacted by suicide.

Nominations for the awards will open on Monday October 5th and will run for four weeks until November 2nd. Nominations can be made online at tallaghtpersonawards.ie
