Tallaght Community Council welcome Christmas to the ACA in Tallaght village

The volunteers in Tallaght Community Council ( TCC), helped by Santa’s elves, organised a festive ceremony to welcome Christmas officially to the Architectural Conservation Area (ACA) in Tallaght village on Saturday 17th of December.

The busy volunteers had a ceremony with music provided by the Tallaght Christian Choir and free festive treats for the group of a few hundred families who gathered at the Dancers civic garden yesterday.

The vibrant group enjoyed the festive songs and treats and the ceremony hit a high when Santa arrived in the Funky Cam taxi cab to greet all the boys & girls.

Santa was joined by the current Tallaght Person of the Year, Simon Sweeney and previous winners.

Following a joint blessing from Canon William and Prior Donal, the live Christmas tree was lit up with 1400 lights ! They will stay lit until Sunday 8th of January.

The crowd joined in with the singing and enjoyed taking photos in the Funky Cam taxi.

Local TD Sean Crowe and SDCC councillors Charlie O Connor and Mick Murphy attended and got into the Christmas spirit enjoying the community event.

TCC would like to thank Molloys for sponsoring the hot drinks and the Fancydress Warehouse and Showtime for sponsoring the sound.

TCC wish all the community a safe and enjoyable Christmas and a prosperous 2017.
