St Mark’s School reopens after fire

St Mark’s Senior National School in Springfield Estate has reopened after a two week closure due to a fire. The School was the subject of an arson attack on Saturday February 20th when a fire was deliberately lit in an access point to the School. The attack destroyed the office of the Principal and caused serious smoke damage and contamination to all 28 class rooms.

The incident caused real upset and concern in Springfield Estate and the School community was particularly devastated that so much school time was lost. Indeed, the situation also presented challenges for some parents who had childcare issues relating to the closure.

The School Principal, Richie Walsh praised the support from the local community, the Residents’ Associations, the parents, school suppliers and many more. The re-opening of the School has been welcomed by the community.
