Mayor Guss O’Connell will officially open proceedings at this year’s South Dublin Comhairle na nÓg Annual General Meeting this Thursday 20th October in the Red Cow Hotel.
Comhairlí na nÓg are local ‘youth councils’ designed to give children and young people aged between 12 and 17 years who do not yet have the vote, the ‘right to have his or her voice heard’ by being involved in the development of local services and policies that concern children and young people.
This year, the Comhairle held an online consultation to determine what issue was of most importance to the young people of South Dublin, and the respondents overwhelmingly voted for Mental Health.
While the AGM will concern itself with creating a work plan around youth mental health for the Comhairle to work on in their 2017 term, the day itself will also promote positive mental health and ways to keep healthy.
There will be a talk on Mental Health from Jigsaw, music from local bands and DJs, Holistic Therapies, Mindfulness, Games, and a Bokwa Dance Session.
The AGM is a wonderful opportunity for young people from the vast and diverse county that is South Dublin to come together, contribute and create positive change for young people in our County.
