Shamrock Rovers suffered only their third league defeat of the 2015 season when they were beaten 2-0 by the Champions Dundalk in Oriel Park last night.

However it was Pat Fenlon’s men who dominated possession for large parts of the games but could not find a way past the resolute Dundalk defence as they recorded their 14th League clean-sheet of the season.

Ex Hoop Ronan Finn scored the opener in the 15th minute when himself and Towell completed some nice passes on the break, the goal went a long way to settle the nerves of the home crowd. Shamrock Rovers grew into the game and responded immediately with Brandon Miele, Gavin Brennan and Michael Drennan all coming close for the away side, but Gary Rogers did well to keep Rovers at bay.

The second half saw both Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk create chances, but it was the Dundalk who scored again and sealed the game for the home side. Another ex-Rovers Player Gannon finished from a McMillan pass to seal the victory for the home side.

Next up for Rovers is a home game against Bohemians on Saturday, check out www.shamrockrovers.ie for ticket details.
