Paddy opens the doors to his new gym as SBG D24 officially launched

Very best wishes to friend of InTallaght Paddy Holohan who is this morning welcoming the first members to his new gym SBG D24.

Located in Unit GB1 in Sitecast Industrial Estate on the Greenhills Road, the new gym was officially launched yesterday with a very well attended open day.

Kicking off at 1pm, the large crowd of visitors of all ages enjoyed a family fun day with a BBQ, bouncy castles and competitive video game contests among the highlights of the afternoon.

Paddy was on hand to chat to visitors and show them around the excellent new facility.

At just under 10,000sq ft., Straight Blast Gym D24 is located over two floors and will cater for people of all ages and skill levels, featuring classes to include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai/ K1 and MMA. The gym will also feature a strength and conditioning area.

Paddy Holohan competed as a professional MMA fighter from 2007 until his retirement in 2016.

Since retiring, he has focused mainly on coaching which has lead him to open his own gym.

Showing the spirit that made him such a formidable warrior in the octagon, Paddy made his vision become reality in spite of a few set backs along the way.

He said:

“There were a lot of late, late nights and it was heartbreaking at times,

“We had our ups and downs. Sometimes it was happening and sometimes it wasn’t – but we got there in the end.

“The thing that kept me going was that I knew that it was going to be a success, because of the amount of people that were interested in it before I had even started setting it up.

“That was a huge motivational boost I received from the people of Tallaght – they got behind me big time.”
