A local based technology company is planning to create 75 new research and development jobs at its global headquarters in Tallaght by 2018.
Fleetmatics, which is now listed on the New York Stock Exchange, provides technology to help companies manage their vehicle fleets. The move will bring its total workforce in Ireland to more than 200 and they employ over 1,200 worldwide.
The company was founded in Ireland in 2004, in a small office in Templeogue in Dublin, employing about 10 people in the first year of operation. It now employs more than 1,200 people worldwide.
Co founder and chief technology officer Peter Mitchell spoke of the importance of staying in the area.
“While we are growing and expanding Fleetmatics across our major international markets, it is important that we continue to invest here where it all began.”
The expansion plans also include the development of Fleetmatics’ new network operations centre in Tallaght.
This facility will house the company’s operations and application support engineers.
Fleetmatics delivers mobile workforce management technology for small and medium-sized businesses. Its systems give businesses more information on vehicle location, fuel usage, speed and mileage, with the objective of helping them to cut costs and increase revenue.
