Gardaí in Tallaght are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 20’s was blasted in the head and body at Fortunestown Lane near Citywest Shopping Centre on Monday evening.
The incident took place at approximately 9.20pm as the man sat in his car close to Eddie Rockets Diner in the popular shopping area.
It is understood that the victim tried to exit his car as shots were fired but suffered a gunshot wound to the head as he tried to escape.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information, particularly those who may have been in the vicinity of Fortunestown Lane Tallaght, to contact the incident room at Tallaght Garda Station on 01-666 6000, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.”

Gardaí also confirmed that a post-mortem on the victim is to be arranged. A van, which Gardaí believe was used in the shooting, is understood to have been burned out in Tallaght after the attack.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and remains closed this morning.
