Minister Zappone celebrates Active Week at Tallaght Community School

National Active School Week is a project from the Department of Education and Skills and Healthy Ireland to encourage Irish schools to organise an Active School Week (ASW) as part of their annual school calendar.

Minister Katherine Zappone met with students from Tallaght Community School this week to hear what projects they have lined up for their own ASW.

Tallaght Community School Student Femi Emmanuel outlines her project work for Active Week to Minister Katherine Zappone.

The week is about providing fun and inclusive physical activity opportunities for all members of the school community.

Minister Zappone meets Teresa Hennessy, Active School Co-ordinator Katie Moran and Zumba Instructor Adrianna Grzywacz

ASW also allows schools to reinforce the message that not only is physical activity good for you but it also very enjoyable and provides schools with an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about the physical activity opportunities that are available in their locality and to work collaboratively with students, parents and members of the community.
