Meet Owen

“I’m Owen from Old Bawn and I have been living there about 20 years. I’m an only child, and I live at home with my Mam and Dad. I started working in Dunnes Stores here in The Square when I was about 16, I was doing my Leaving Cert and working part time and then I went into full time. Ever since that, 15 and a half years I have been there. It’s decent, there are good times and bad, it’s not as good as it used to be but it’s a job at the end of the day.

To relax at the weekend I have a few drinks, normally I go to the Mill or it could be Aherns, I like to mix it around, I don’t like to go to the same pub. I support Man United and watch them the weekend, any decent soccer that’s on I watch.

I try to get over to three games a year, I haven’t got over in the last few years but in the new year I plan to get over. I’m more into the GAA now, I played it for years, played for Thomas Davis for about 16 years. I do be in Croke Park a lot. I don’t support Dublin, I support Kerry because when I grew up as a kid my Uncle was from Cork and my Dad used to go to all the Cork and Kerry matches and my Dad was big into Kerry as a kid so he named me after one of the famous football players from Kerry so ever since I have always been Kerry. I have no holidays planned just yet but I would like to get away to the sun, probably Spain and then Paddy’s weekend I might try get away, you need a break.

I have no major plans for the future, maybe settle down in time, if I meet the right girl I will but it’s very hard, I wouldn’t go for just any kind of girl!”
