McGregor sets to make history against Eddie Alvarez in New York

Lately Conor McGregor has found a second home in Las Vegas but new emerging today sees him take to the octagon in another City in America. Yes McGregor will return to the big stage before the end of 2016 this time round it will be in New York where he will attempt to clinch a second UFC title.

McGregor (20-3), the UFC’s reigning featherweight champion, will challenge defending lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez (28-4) in the headline bout at UFC 205. The event, which will take place at Madison Square Garden, is set for Saturday, 12 November, and it will be the UFC’s first ever show in New York City after the ban on professional mixed martial arts in the state of New York was abolished earlier this year.

Both Alvarez and McGregor are due to attend a press conference at Madison Square Garden this evening, which is scheduled to begin at 11pm Irish time. Should McGregor emerge victorious on 12 November, he’ll become the first fighter in history to hold two UFC belts simultaneously.

McGregor has been getting used to the Irish support flocking to Sin City but we think this time the Irish will literally take over New York and thats just the Irish that live there not mentioning the ones that will travel. It is set to be one of the biggest event on the sporting calendar and how great is it to see an Irishman fronting it (even if he isn’t to everyones liking).
