Tourism providers from South Dublin gathered yesterday morning for the launch of South Dublin County Council’s Tourism Brand website dublinsgreatoutdoors.ie
The excellent new tourist website showcases everything to see and do all across the county and features quite a few local areas of interest.
It is all part of the County Tourism Marketing and Branding Strategy and Action Plan to identify and promote the unique selling points and exciting experiences of South Dublin County to increase tourist numbers to the area.
Following the success of the initiatives like the “Wild Atlantic Way” and “Ireland’s Ancient East” it is hoped that the rebranding of South Dublin County as “Dublin’s Great Outdoors” will advertise everything on offer in this county and build awareness of the area to both domestic and international visitors.
Speaking at yesterday’s launch, Mayor Guss O Connell said the plan marks “a new beginning for South Dublin County … positioning ourselves as the Great Outdoors in Dublin.”
The local tourism sector will be crucial in the future and the plan has involved engagement with local businesses as well as seeking views from the wider community.
Failte Ireland’s wide-ranging “Destination Dublin” report by the Grow Dublin Taskforce, launched in January 2014 outlined a series of actions to re-define and develop the tourism product in Dublin and SDCC is working closely with Failte Ireland and the Grow Dublin team in this area.
