Local student raising money to help the poor in Kolkata

Róisín Ní Chuaig, a fifth year student from Coláiste de hÍde in Tallaght is currently trying to raise €3000 for The Hope Foundation (Reg. Charity No. 13237) along with six other classmates. The local school would be the first school in Tallaght to have participated in such an event and also the very first Gaelcholáiste! When I spoke to Róisín she told me this money will allow her to travel to Kolkata, India on the October 23rd, 2015 to volunteer helping the underprivileged children in orphanges, hospitals and she will be taking part in many projects while spending her time there.

I believe this would be a great opportunity for me and also my school, as we will be the first school in Tallaght and also the first Gaelcholáiste to take part in something like this.

The Hope Foundation is a registered charity that is dedicated to promoting the protection of street & slum children primarily in Kolkata (Calcutta), and the most underprivileged in India, to promote immediate and lasting change in their lives. They are a non-denominational charity and are the largest and most recognized non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Kolkata. This charity manages to fund over sixty projects a year, in the areas of healthcare, education, protection, nutrition, training, counselling and human rights advocacy.

Róisín tells me that she is very excited with working with this charity in the near future, she has worked to raise this money by selling Butler’s chocolate bars, bag-packing in local shopping centres and fundraising at events such as Dublin matches in Croke Park. She is so grateful for all the donations that have been sent in so far and has reached over half of her target and needs your help to achieve her goal. Róisín has only six weeks left to raise this money in order to travel to Kolkata and hopes all her hard work will pay off.

I would be so grateful if you could donate any amount possible, every little helps and it would be hugely appreciated. It would also be such an amazing achievement for our school!
