This weekend RTE launch Dancing With The Stars and one of the dancers who will be leading the celebrities through their paces throughout the series is 17 year old Tallaght native Shauna Finn.
Based on the massively popular Strictly Come Dancing format, Dancing with The Stars, which kicks off on Sunday night, has been billed as one of RTE’s flagship shows and local dancer Shauna will be lending her considerable expertise to the novice stars as they attempt to master the ballroom.
A former student of St Marks in Springfield, Shauna started Irish dancing after school at age 4 and from that she took up Latin and Ballroom at age 11.
Since then she has been competing and winning the very biggest prizes dancing has to offer and her outstanding talent led her to become a professional dancer at 15.
Shauna, who represents Ireland at international competitions, has experience with dance styles such as Ballroom and Latin, Ballet, Hip-Hop, contemporary & modern dance, Irish dancing, Musical Theatre & Jazz. She is a 3 times champion in Irish Hip Hop, the Irish Show Dance Champion 2016 and All Ireland Champion.
Shauna got the call to audition for the show on the same day she received her Leaving Cert results and has previously appeared in the June Rodgers Strictly Christmas Show, which was choreographed by Tristan MacManus, who danced his way to stardom as a professional on the BBC’s version.
Shaun’s experience with MacManus is sure to stand the dancer in good stead.
The celebrities taking part are Des Bishop, Aoibhin Garrihy, Denise McCormack, Des Cahill, Dayl Cronin, Teresa Mannion, Hughie Maughan, Thalia Heffernan, Dr Eva Orsmond, Aidan O’Mahon and Katherine Lynch.
