Local area hit by spot floods following heavy overnight rain

Warnings have been issued to all road users following the torrential rain this morning with a rainfall warning in force for Leinster and Munster.

Dublin Fire Brigade report that they have a unit from Tallaght are in Newcastle Manor pumping water to save a large number of houses from being flooded.

Motorists are being alerted of major flooding on the M3 southbound at Blanchardstown with traffic delays of over an hour. Two lanes are closed and only the hard shoulder is passable

Dublin Fire Brigade also report that the Eastern Regional Centre, which takes emergency calls for Leinster, Cavan and Monaghan, received 47 calls this morning, compared to 14 for the same period yesterday. Most of the calls are about weather related incidents.
