The South Dublin ’Let’s Go Mental’ event and Comhairle na nÓg AGM will be held in Tallaght Stadium on Thursday October 8th from 10:30am to 3:30pm.
Mayor Sarah Holland will open the event at 10:45am. The event aims to see 250 young people get involved in a number of activities promoting positive mental health.
‘Let’s Go Mental’ is an event for young people to promote positive mental health through music, sport and the arts based around the ‘Five A Day’ – Connect, Be Aware, Get Moving, Give and Get Involved.
Comhairle na nÓg are child and youth councils in the 31 Local Authorities of the country which give children and young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies.
This year Comhairle na nÓg and South Dublin County Council are working in partnership with Jigsaw Clondalkin and Jigsaw Tallaght to organise this ‘Let’s Go Mental’ event.
This campaign has been developed by teenagers for teenagers and involves a series of 31 events in every local authority area to promote positive mental health through music, sport, the arts and other fun activities.
Co-ordinated by South Dublin Sports Office, Leinster Rugby and the FAI it will encourage young people to ‘Get Moving’ on the day. There will be also be Yoga and Mindfulness to help Be Aware’, ‘connecting’ through art and local organisations, an opportunity to Give and a number of organisations encouraging people to ‘Get Involved’.
