Robbie Keane is keeping sharp while he plots the next move in his magnificent career by training with the Rovers first team at Roadstone.
The club say there are no plans to sign Ireland’s record scorer and Keane is merely maintaining his fitness while he’s home.
The Hoops players will learn a lot this week from working with the local legend who finished up with LA Galaxy at the end of the last MLS season.
Keane himself will enjoy hooking up with old pals Damien Duff and Stephen McPhail and playing football close to where he grew up.
Since leaving the US he’s trained with Al Ahli, a Dubai based club, last month and been linked with moves to his old club Leeds United, Preston North End and Brighton.
In an interview in January he said he would finish his career in the League of Ireland but not for another few years.
As he continues to look for another club he is also on record as saying he’s turned down offers from clubs that were “too far away” which probably rules out China or Australia.
Hopefully the Rovers strikers will their boots against Derry City in Friday nights home game after their few days with Keano…
