Initiative highlighting importance of third level education holds national launch in Tallaght

College Awareness Week, a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness of the benefits of going to college, had its national launch this morning in Tallaght Library.

CAW aims to inspire and inform all students about the importance of having a post-secondary education plan and advocates for students to have the choice to pursue the course best suited to their interests, abilities and future plans, whether that is a PLC qualification, an apprenticeship or a university degree.

Among the attendees this morning was Mayor Guss O Connell, former Dublin football star Coman Goggins who is the AIB Youth Ambassador, students from St. Mark’s CS & Old Bawn CS who provided art work on show, as well as some jugglers from TCD who put on a pre show exhibition!

This week sees over 1,000 events happening nationwide in schools, FETs, HEIs, libraries, community centres and businesses to help celebrate CAW.

College Awareness Week is supported by the Higher Education Authority, the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals, IBEC, the Institute of Guidance Counsellors and the Trinity Access Programme. College Awareness Week is sponsored by its corporate sponsors AIB and Perrigo.
