Well, if you’ve been around these parts for a while, you’ll know that Huawei (and therefore Honor) have had a rough time of late. America really doesn’t like Huawei right now, and they’re of the opinion that Huawei are bad in every way.

It’s all cobblers of course and the lovely orange fellow running America is basically forcing a trade renegotiation by holding Huawei to ransom. He’s has blocked US companies from working with Huawei, which has meant that Google can no longer offer Gmail, YouTube or Google Play on yet-to-be-available Huawei and Honor devices.

It’s a huge problem for Huawei. Massive. We were all kinda hoping that the US would give them a reprieve, but that’s not happened and Huawei are planning to use their own app store.

At an event in London, they showed off their new Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) system and announced that developers were already supporting it. Developer kits and API’s have meant that some 55,000 apps have been readied.

You can read all about the Huawei AppGallery – there’s also a Huawei Browser and Assistant being hooked in, with the promise of a fully-connected ecosystem.

The company is to invest £20 million in UK developers, with incentives being offered for those who are looking to develop for them.
