Amazon Prime is the name Amazon gives to its £79/$119 per year service that includes free one-day delivery, the Amazon Prime Video streaming service, Amazon Music and more. You can share that membership with one other adult and up to four children thanks to its Amazon Household feature.

There are loads of benefits you can share with Amazon Household such as delivery benefits, Prime Video, Prime Early Access, Prime Reading, Prime Wardrobe and certain Amazon Family benefits.

Plus, sharing Amazon Prime can be especially useful during events like major sales events like Prime Day.

Without further ado, here’s how to share your Prime account and benefits using Amazon Households.

Sharing Prime using Amazon Households

We’re assuming that you are the Amazon account-holder, that you have Amazon Prime and that you’re here to find out how you can share that with one other adult and up to four children. It’s pretty simple to do and will help you make the most out of your membership fee.

Keep in mind you won’t be able to share benefits if you’re a Prime Student, Prime Video user or an invited guest of a Prime member.

If you haven’t yet signed up, you can start a 30-day free Amazon Prime trial. Once you’ve done so, continue reading to find out how to share it with others.

First, you’ll need to sign in to your Amazon account. Next, click on ‘Accounts & List’ and click on ‘Your Account’ at the top right of the drop down. Then, click ‘Prime’ to be taken to a new page that shows the benefits you’re entitled to with your Prime Membership.

Scroll all the way down to the bottom and you should see a section that says ‘Share your Prime benefits’. Click on ‘Invite someone now’.

Enter the name and email address of the person you would like to share your Prime account with.

Next, you’ll have to authorize the person you’re sharing your benefits with to use the payment card linked to your Prime account. This lets each adult within the Amazon Household copy payment details to the other’s payment options. It won’t affect your payment settings.

To share Prime Video both adults within the Household will need to have a 1-Click billing address and payment method based in the UK.

On the other side of things, the invitee will receive an email as shown below. He or she will have 14 days to accept the invitation and can cancel their existing Prime membership if they already have one:

You’ll then see an invitation confirmation and more information about the shareable benefits, which we talk more about below.

What Prime benefits can you share?

The second adult using your Amazon Prime account will get access to many but not all benefits of Amazon Prime. They’ll get delivery benefits (including Prime Now), Prime Video streaming (but not the option to download), access to books, magazines and other content through Prime Reading, early access to Lightning Deals, and Amazon Family benefits such as 20% off nappies and baby food subscriptions.

Through the Family Library, you can also choose to share digital content like apps, eBooks, games and other media. This can be shared with up to four child profiles. Adults sharing the Family Library would need to share their payment methods.

You won’t be able to share benefits like Kindle First, Twitch Prime, or be able to invite more people to Prime. You also can’t share Amazon Prime Music or Amazon Video Channels, which is the service that allows you to add premium channels to Prime Video with a separate monthly rate.
