No you haven’t read the headline wrong, there is a heatwave headed this way for the weekend with temperatures expected to hit as high as 22c.

Weather forecasted from Friday right through the weekend is expected to be at it’s highest in a long time with it already being branded a “mini Irish heatwave”.

The best days are expected to be next Monday and Tuesday before conditions settle into proper late spring warmth.
Ireland will be hotter than Ibiza on both Monday and Tuesday if the sun does make a long awaited appearance.

With official figures just released by Met Eireann confirming parts of the country suffered their coldest and dullest April for decades the news of sunshine will be welcomed by most.

Who knows maybe this is the start of a long sunny summer for all of us?
