South Dublin County Council has confirmed the go-ahead of retailer Harvey Norman at a new premises on the Airton Road, Tallaght. Harvey Norman had submitted plans for the alteration of a previously developed retail park with the addition of four areas of mezzanine floors within the existing building for use as staff, ancillary and equipment accommodation last year. Coffee chain Costa Coffee will also be located on the site in a 218sqm cafe with outdoor seating.
There had been two objections against the plans by Robert Roberts and PKB Partnership both who have neighbouring buildings near the site. Concerns were for the additional traffic that the new businesses will cause, as well as the location of the entrance.
South Dublin County Council approved the plans on January 11th, but attached conditions including the downsizing of the size of proposed signage and a totem pole in line with nearby businesses in the area, as well as permission granted for use of the car park by both of the retail establishments and the primary care centre. The car park will hold 257 car parking spaces and 42 cycle park stands.
