Ballycullen man Sean Hanratty has put together a musical spectacular to help raise vital funds to bring children from Gaza to Ireland.
Sean, who also fundraised for the cause in 2016, explained that A Night At The Musicals which takes place on July 23rd will be a “great concert for a great cause”.
He said: “All of the performers are incredible and they are giving up their time for free, the Civic has been very good to us as well by reducing the rate for the event. The kids will hopefully be here in 10 days, all going well, and we want to make sure they have a great time.”
During their short stay in Ireland the children from Gaza will take part in a number of football friendly matches as well as visiting places of interest across the country; including a trip to Tallaght Stadium.
Sean said: “The kids will start off in Dublin where they will visit Tallaght Stadium. Shamrock Rovers were very good to them last year and this group are looking forward to the trip.”
Sean and his mother, Phil King, hosted an Afternoon Tea Party in 2016 to raise money for Gaza Kids to Ireland and they are both excited to continue the tradition this year with A Night At The Musicals.
The show, which will feature professional singers and actors, will also include tunes from well-known musicals such as Les Mis, Wicked and Rent.
There will also be a performance from special guests, the Lucan Gospel Choir, singing songs from Sister Act.
Sean, who is a trained opera singer, will also perform on the night and hopes the event can raise at least €2,000 for the cause.
He said: “There are a few ways to support the event, people can buy tickets, even if they cannot make it to the show if they want to purchase a ticket they can donate it back or they can donate directly by visiting Gaza Action Ireland.”
“It will be a great event, we are looking forward to it and I really hope that the community gets behind us!”
Tickets priced €10/€12 are available now from The Civic Theatre Box Office and can be purchased on the night subject to availability. The show will take place in the Main Auditorium from 8pm.
