Emu Ink officially launched Cabra Cadabra, which is written by former RTÉ sports journalist and broadcaster Eamonn Donohoe.
The book is centred around Gary, a former member of the Magic Society who turned his back on his favourite pastime after a devastating act of betrayal. His life thereafter, veered off course and Gary became a shy, self-loathing character whose only social saviour is his best friend Collie.
Together, the two men bring out the best in each other and, despite not knowing each other’s darkest secrets, a shared passion for “beer, birds, and Bohemian FC,” is all they need to keep natural humour and dry wit alive.
Writer Eamonn Donohoe is also a producer who now works for BBC Scotland. He said of the book:
“I’m really proud to be launching Cabra Cadabra. I’ve had the voices and some of the characters in my head for quite a while and it was really exciting to commit it to print… It’s been a difficult but fun adventure over the last three years, taking it from a blank page to a finished article and I hope people enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.”
Emu Ink Publisher, Emer Cleary said:
“Cabra Cadabra is a fantastically-written novel, which includes some very unique and loveable characters. The writing is funny and clever but also sensitive, where necessary. Eamonn is a talented author whose work will be a very welcome addition to bookshelves everywhere.”
Cabra Cadabra is a bluntly-comedic, heart-warming tale of self-discovery, hope and recovery. It is available from Emu Ink here.
