2018 will be the year to see a €34 million hotel open in Dublin City.
Ireland’s largest hotel group has announced plans to build a new 137-bedroom hotel near St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. Dalata Hotel Group says that it has paid €8.1 million for the city centre site that is located at the junction of Kevin Street Upper and New Street South.
Planning permission for a hotel on the site was already granted by An Bord Pleanála late last year and Dalata says construction will begin in the final quarter of this year. The site itself is located about 600m west of St. Stephen’s Green and just one block south of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
As well as the 137 bedrooms, it’s planned that the five-floor Maldron Hotel will also have a small basement car park and a café bar and restaurant. It has been reported that the Dalata group is aiming for the hotel to be up and running by the middle of 2018 after about €26 million is spent on construction.
