Dublin’s Jenni Murphy became a World Champion in Citywest yesterday as 50 Irish bodybuilders and bikini athletes competed against the best from across the globe.
Personal Trainer Jenni, who hails from Rathfarnham, won the Women’s Athletic Class and shared in an overall prize fund of €14,000 and also earned a PRO Card making her Ireland’s first professional WFF competitor.
280 competitors from more than 20 countries vied for world titles across 23 Bodybuilding and Bikini Classes as the World Fitness Federation (WFF) World Championships, presented by BSN, took place for the first time on Irish soil yesterday.
Jenni comes from a very sporting family; her brother Barry is the Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper and her sister Katie plays Gaelic football for Dublin and she kept things patriotic by including moves inspired by Irish dancing in her routine.
All the months of rigorous training, careful eating and tremendous self-discipline were put to the test by the judges at the global event.
Other notable Irish stars included Stephanie Murray who was runner up in the women’s performance class and Diana Kelleher runner up in the bikini class.
