For those who love listening to podcasts, and people who haven’t discovered them yet, HeadStuff and Aiken Promotions have released the first series of shows as a part of the inaugural Dublin Podcast Festival, featuring top notch podcasters from home and abroad.
The festival brings you 10 nights of headliner shows, live podcasts, comedy showcases, discussions and workshops taking place in various venues across Dublin city.
Hot on the heels of the first announcement, we have full details on the  Podcast Workshop and Masterclass, plus 3 other newly added shows.

Whether you’re a regular podcaster who wants to sharpen up your skills, or a newbie who wants to step into the increasingly popular world of audio, the Podcast Workshop and Masterclass will have something for you!
This very special event will take place in the  Kevin Barry Recital Room of The National Concert Hall on Saturday, 23 September.
The Podcast Workshop kicks off at 10:00 and runs until 14:15 when some of Ireland’s most experienced podcasters and broadcasters to show you their tips and tricks.
With everything from ideas to recording to publishing,  you’ll learn how to get your ideal guests, what to do once you have them, how to produce the audio and get the best sound quality, and how to get your podcast to the top of the charts and get it making money for you.
You can get involved in the brainstorm, pitch your idea to our panel and get their advice, their constructive criticism, or, if your idea is right, sit back and enjoy the praise they lavish on you! Sound good?
Here’s how the day will run: Commencing proceedings at 10:00, producers of HeadStuff Podcast Network Brian and Taz will be imparting information about the best equipment for your podcast, whether you record remotely or always in the same place.
They’ll be sharing their knowledge on which software is free, which is best value, which is easiest to use and more. From 11.05 – 12.05 the Documentary On One team will present ‘New Dogs, Old Tricks’ The Documentary On One team has been going, in one form or the other, since 1954 – it is the essence of ‘legacy media’.
They are consistently at the top of the Irish podcast lists and is the most-visited single programme page on rte.ie.
The team will share their working methods and will open a discussion on what they can learn from new podcasters to stay relevant and popular in the future media environment.
From 12.10pm – 13.10 broadcaster Liam Geraghty will host a session on getting, researching and interviewing your ideal guest.
He’ll take you through the sometimes tricky process of securing a guest for your podcast, researching them and getting the best out of them.
Liam is an award-winning reporter for RTÉ Radio 1 as well as the BBC World Service, 2fm and Lyric FM. He also produced The Comic Cast podcast for over 5 years and currently hosts Meet Your Maker, a culture podcast. (Check out our At A Glance Panel at the bottom of the page for details)
There’s time for a quick break and then we’ll be kicking off with the Podcast Masterclass, which runs from 15:00 – 18:00. Also taking place on Sunday, 24 September is the Irish Times Women’s Podcast at The Sugar Club. The Women’s Podcast is made by women, for everyone, and was named Best New Irish Podcast by iTunes in 2015.
For this episode, they’ve got something special in store! As their hilarious new novel ‘Oh My God, What A Complete Aisling’ hits the shelves, join authors Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen and some other ‘country girls’ for a chat about Irish women and the story behind the creation of ‘Aisling’ on their popular Facebook page. Who exactly is an Aisling?
A uniquely Irish girl in her late twenties, an Aisling often lives at home somewhere down the country with her parents, commuting to her mid-level, pensionable administrative job in Dublin. Sensible and reliable, she’s the only one who knows how to work the office fax machine and always has paracetamol for her co-workers (but nothing stronger, codeine is fierce addictive). Whether you are an Aisling yourself or are friends with a few of them, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss.
On Tuesday, 26th September there’s the What’s The Story Podcast and This Feels Terrible at The Workman’s Club. What’s the Story Podcast is a multi award winning podcast hosted by Danny Murray and Graham Merrigan. This weekly podcast works under the basic idea of ‘everyone has a story to tell and we want to tell it.’ Over 100 chapters in, the lads have had guests like Wayne McCullough, David Norris, Tony Hinchcliffe, PJ Gallagher, MMA heroes like Chael Sonnen, Bruce Buffer and Bas Rutten, WWE superstar Finn Balor, Best Selling Authors David McWilliams and Paul Howard. The list goes on..They’ll take to stage with three well known guests and share stories that may be serious, may be hilarious but will definitely be entertaining.
Comedian Erin McGathy (Community, Drunk History, Harmonquest) presents her This Feels Terrible comedy podcast about relationships LIVE. Each episode features storytelling revolving around love-gone-wrong, an on-stage interview with a fellow comedian and “Terrible Advice” where Erin and her guest answer the audience’s relationship questions. Longtime fans and newbies alike will be sure to get their heart related humor fix – and a whole lot of laughs to boot!  Tickets for this special night are €15, with doors at 8pm.
