Tallaght writer and actor Emmet Kirwan collected an IFTA this evening after Heartbreak, his collaboration with director Dave Tynan, was named Best Short Film.

The powerful six and a half minute poetry short also stars Tallaght actress Jordanne Jones and follows the fortunes of a young girl as she tries to cope with the harsh realities of this world.

An uplifting, dark and empowering piece Heartbreak caught the minds of people across the country when it was released online in January.

Developed as part of This Is Pop Baby’s RIOT the short film is set in Dublin and has a breath-taking finale.

Ger in!
