It took four units of the Dublin Fire Brigade to battle a blaze at The Cuckoos Nest bar on Greenhills Road which reportedly started at 10pm.
The fire started at a unit at the back of the derelict pub, which closed in 2015, was under control by 11:30pm.
The Fire Brigade were back however this morning at 9am and more water was pumped onto the smouldering timbers to stop the fire reigniting and to allow the Garda team investigate the site.
Thankfully nobody was injured and the nearby Tallaght Theatre was undamaged. At present it is not clear how the fire started.
A spokesperson for the Dublin Fire Brigade told InTallaght:
“We had five units at the scene which was under control by about 11:30pm.
“We had cleared the scene at the empty building by midnight. The fire was at a unit within the bar complex.”
The Cuckoos Nest had been owned by the Lynch family from 1962 until they ceased trading in May last year.
