Celtic shortlisted for FIFA Best Fans of the Year award

It will come as no surprise to hear celtic fans have been nominated for a fan award.

Anyone that has been lucky enough to take in a game at Celtic Park or Paradise as it is known will understand exactly why they have been shortlisted for FIFA Best Fans of the Award alongside Borussia Dortmund and Copenhagen.

The award, now in its second year recognises an outstanding fan moment or gesture from the period November 2016 to August 2017 inclusive, and can be awarded to any fan or fan group regardless of league level, gender or nationality.

A panel of FIFA Legends selected the three top moments from the aforementioned period, with the vote open until 22 October, the day before the awards show in London. The winner will be revealed at the ceremony the following day.

Celtic’s fans have been selected for their final match of the league season which coincided with the 50th anniversary of winning the European Cup in 1967.

The Celtic fans honoured the team, known as the “Lisbon Lions”, with a stunning full 360-degree card display around Celtic Park. The Hoops went on to win the match to secure an entire league season undefeated on their way to winning the Scottish Premiership – part one of their ‘invincible treble’.
