Bursary funding of up to €15,000 for local Tallaght artists

Are you a local artist looking for funding? Bursary awards are available under an Arts Council scheme for up to €15,000 to support those working in theatre, film, literature and dance in 2016. The fund has the potential to not only support individuals but to bring arts out into our local communities according to independent Senator Katharine Zappone.

Local artists should examine if they are eligible for funding up to €15,000 per artist under the Arts Council scheme by clicking here. The deadline for applications is January 21st. The bursary funding is in addition to €230,000 which is already being provided to the Civic Theatre, Tallaght Community Arts and the South Dublin County Council Arts Services.

Senator Zappone said:

“Access to the arts is key if we are to achieve full equality in our communities and the Arts Council funding should be used to break down barriers which have prevented people from participating in theatre, dance, film and a whole range of enjoyments. The arts not only entertain but provide much needed social activities for our young people and prevent loneliness by encouraging older people to remain active.”

Arts Council funding will this year support flagship projects in Tallaght, including €110,000 for the Civic Theatre, €79,000 for Tallaght Community Arts and €41,000 for the South Dublin County Council Arts Centre.

Senator Zappone added:

“We can be proud that we have a strong local arts infrastructure and in 2016 our artists have an important role to play in ensuring that everyone in Tallaght can feel part of commemorations and events marking an important year in the life of our nation.”
