Applications Open for ‘Blind Date’ TV Series with Al Porter

The most recognisable man in Tallaght will channel his inner Cilla Black as the brand new host of TV3’s dating show Blind Date –  and you could be featured too!

The iconic show is coming to TV3 this Autumn and will put Porter in the matchmaker driving seat – in a move guaranteed to bring fun and cheeky frolics to the dating series.

The Ballymount-based broadcaster is now looking for applications from people who want to appear on the show; seeking single men and women in Ireland, of all age groups, looking for love.

If you have what it takes applications can be made now by visiting www.tv3.ie/blinddate.

Each week contestants will choose their date after a series of questions; but without ever seeing them face-to-face, basing their attraction on how witty their answers are.

Porter said: “I’m beyond delighted this is happening and leaped at the chance to do it! Since I was a kid on stage in the Olympia all I’ve ever wanted to do was cheer people up and entertain as many people as possible. I remember watching shows like Blind Date with Cilla as my Mam ironed and my Nana laughed and it doing just that – cheering us all up!”

“To think I’ve the opportunity to be welcomed into people’s homes each week on TV3 for a bit of shiny, silly fun is a privilege and I hope people love it! Most fun for me, is like my Panto and radio work, Blind Date on TV3 will be broad fun, family entertainment! …Now, to practice saying “what’s your name, where do you come from?!”

The show, which will air in the Autumn, is also co-produced by  Porter and Stuart O’Connor’s company, Pinktie Productions along with producers of the UK reboot, Sony backed, Northern Irish company, Stellify Media.

To get you in the mood – and remind you what it’s all about here is the theme tune from the iconic UK show which enjoyed huge success in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
