Al Porter nominated for Edinburgh comedy award

Springfield’s finest Al Porter has been nominated for the coveted Best Comedy Show award sponsored by last minute.com

Today’s announcement that he is among the eight nominees for the prestigious award is another high point in the local funny man’s career.

His show, “At Large” has been receiving rave reviews and he is competing against some industry heavyweights for the gong which also comes with a cheque for £10,000.

Included with him in the nominees section are James Acaster, Kieran Hodgson, Nish Kumar, Richard Gadd, Tom Ballard, Zoe Coombs Marr and Randy Writes A Novel.

Nica Burns, director of the lastminute.com Edinburgh Comedy Awards said:

“2016 reflects the breadth and quality of comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe with eight nominations for Best Comedy Show for the second year running.

“Four outstanding stand-ups, a female comic performing in character as Dave, a novel-writing puppet, a wonderful story teller and a comic who is as moving as he is funny. An international list with four UK artists, three Australians and a Dubliner.”

The winner will be announced on Saturday 27 August.

Best of luck to Al, hopefully he’ll be taking that trophy and his few quid back to Tallaght at the end of the month!
