Over 200 million people watched this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, a rise of five million on last year’s figures.
The three live shows from Stockholm, Sweden on May 10, 12 and 14 reached 204 million people in 42 countries, according to the European Broadcasting Union with host country Sweden delivering its largest audience since 2000 when the Globen Arena also hosted the event. 3.6 million viewers tuned in for the 3.5 hour show.
Winning country Ukraine delivered its highest viewing figures for the Eurovision Song Contest since 2010, with 1.5 million viewers watching the Grand Final.
It may have received a grilling on social media due to the block voting of countries but there is no doubting that it is still one of the most popular shows around, and judging by the numbers tuning in that won’t be changing for a long time.
