Cartoon Network has ordered 40 episodes for the first season of the animated PowerPuff Girls reboot.
The original Powerpuff Girls ran from 1998 to 2005 and followed the adventures of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup — three super-powered girls who fight villains before bedtime. The new series will apparently do just that, too.
According to tvseriesfinale.com, the series’ executive producers Nick Jennings and Bob Boyle recently said: “Our first season has 40 eleven-minute episodes and it’s a staircase method of production.
“Every week, we’re finishing written material, we’re handing out written material, looking at storyboards in rough phases and finished phases. We’re doing animatics, records, mixing, finishing, and delivering.”
The first season of the new Powerpuff Girls will begin on April 4 at 6pm.
