Instagram first launched its video feature almost three years ago, and now it’s extending the recording limit from 15 seconds to up to 60 seconds.
The social media app announced it will support minute-long video clips, which will be rolled out to all customers in the coming months.
An added bonus is also in store for iOS users as Instagram is bringing back the ability to make videos from multiple clips in a camera roll. Multi-clip video will be available this week as part of Instagram for iOS version 7.19 in Apple’s App Store.
Singer Selena Gomez was one of the first to showcase the extended feature, sharing a sneak peek of her upcoming music with her fans.
Instagram revealed its video feature has risen in popularity over the past six months, with the amount of time users spent watching a video shooting up by 40%, and the extended clip length was just one of the many changes to come.
Instagram said: “We want to bring you fun, flexible and creative ways to create and watch video on Instagram. As part of our continued commitment, you’ll soon have the flexibility to tell your story in up to 60 seconds of video. This is one step of many you’ll see this year.”
