Yesterday we brought you the news that pubs will remain closed on Good Friday, for the time being anyway but as they say, when one door closes another one opens.

Customers of Brown Thomas could soon be looking forward to enjoying a drink before or after their shopping a judge was told yesterday. The Grafton Street store is currently refurbishing its third floor restaurant.

Circuit Court President Mr Justice Raymond Groarke was told this was part of the plan of Brown Thomas in Dublin’s Grafton Street in its application for a legal facility that will ensure it has a full pub license when plans to refurbish its third floor restaurant are completed.

It will be a while yet before we know if we can be served a drink while shopping!
